GENETIC TESTING

Genetic testing is readily available at Breast Care Specialists of Carolina, PLLC. Genetic testing serves to determine if a patient is more susceptible to breast cancer as well as other related cancers due to a defect in their DNA (genes). Many women will qualify for this testing based on their personal history as well as their family history. Although many women qualify for this testing, most women do not have a genetic susceptibility to these cancers. Genetic testing allows Dr. Thomas Williams to determine if a patient is a candidate for prophylactic surgery to remove the breasts as well as if increased surveillance is indicated.
